The Start of Something New
Published by
My heart was racing to the point I could feel it in my ears. My palms were sweaty, but my hands were cold. I was well hydrated, but it seemed like I hadn't had a drink for days. Was I about to race, you might ask? "No," I would answer. I was about to do my first high school visit. Ok, so thats a bit of a dramatization, but still, it's cool to be getting down to business school visit style. My first stop was the first of several that will take me back to my homeland, Upstate New York. I started out going to my alma matter Chittenango HS outside of Syracuse NY. It was a great first stop and a good way to get my feet wet. The team was excited and receptive to have me join them for a practice. After a solid 7 mile run we gathered around my truck to listen to music, play some running trivia, check out some cool shoes/spikes and hang out talking about running. Also, my old coach Harold Muller is director of the Chittenango Invitational at Jamesville Park this coming weekend with about 80 schools in attendance. If you're a team in Upstate New York who doesn't have a meet next weekend, you should check it out. Great course, great teams are coming, and plus my truck will be there selling shirts, playing music, and just hanging out. Thats it from here for now, on to my next stop in Upstate; Skaneateles High. |
